Madison Wimmer, LMSW

Madison is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Houston, TX. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN, and received her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work.  Most of her career has been spent working with children and their families in medical, clinical, and school-based settings. Madison has gained experience in a medical social work setting through her internship at the Ronald McDonald House working with children, and their families, who were fighting critical illnesses in the Texas Medical Center. Madison has developed her clinical experience through her undergraduate internship at a community mental health center where she assisted in client sessions with clients who had a variety of mental health diagnoses, as well as through her work at Behavioral Innovations at their ABA clinic where she worked with children who had an Autism diagnosis.

 

Madison enjoys working in a school-based setting with Communities In Schools of Houston where she is counseling students experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, behavioral challenges, autism, and developmental delays.  Madison has experience utilizing modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based interventions, Motivational Interviewing, and a Strengths-Based approach.  Madison is passionate about providing quality mental health services to children and adolescents to equip them with the coping skills they need to overcome challenges and succeed in their lives.
